If youβre one of the many frustrated owners of messy or overstuffed dressers, donβt worry. Organizing your drawers full of clothes and other stuff can be quicker and easier than you might think!
What you need to know before getting started organizing a dresser is that you should always begin with a blank slate.
So, how do you do that exactly? Simple! Below are 7 tried and true tips on how to organize dresser so that it lasts longer!
1. Declutter the Drawers
Take everything out from your drawers and don’t forget to take everything off the top, too. Reach in and get everything out of the back.
2. Dust off the Dresser
Dust Inside – To prepare your dresser drawers for storing clean clothing, dust the inside now.
3. Wipe down your Dresser
Wipe every corner of your dresser down – While you’re at it, dust and wipe down (maybe even polish) the outside of your dresser.
4. Declutter your Dresser
Don’t put back anything that you don’t wear and will probably never wear again. Donate, recycle, or sell anything you haven’t worn for more than a year.
5. Sort Everything Out
Group Everything by Category– Dedicate an individual drawer to a particular type of clothing (i.e. underwear, T-shirts, etc.) Split everything into a category based on the total number of drawers that you have.
6. Maximize Your Dresser’s Space
Avoid Folding Bulky Items– Bulky clothes (like jeans and sweatshirts) should go somewhere else like hanging in your closet. They take up too much space when folded in your organized dresser drawer, where you should only keep smaller, thinner items.
7. Keep Following Your Dresser’s Organization Rules
Keep maintaining your organization method. You’ll not only find it easier for you but also easier on your dresses. When your dresser drawers are crammed full and bursting at the seams, they can’t possibly last as long as when they’re neat and organized.
